Faith Guitars Mars - Drop Shoulder Dreadnought Guitar

Based upon Patrick James Eggle's 'Kanuga' body shape, the Mars is an beautiful alternative take on the classic dreadnought acoustic design. Rather than the square shouldered look of the standard 'dread', the Mars softens the visual lines to create an altogeher more elegant instrument. Using scalloped bracing, just like the originals from the 1930s, the Mars is strong across the tonal range, with an overall sound comparable to the regular Saturn dreadnought shape: Even response across the Bass, Mid and Treble ranges, but with a strong mid-range 'bark' which ensures it makes itself heard in band situations.

The Mars is available in a handful of variants, and as always the exact tone produced will depend upon the tonewoods used:

  • The FRMG Mars model is made with solid Mahogany for the top, back and sides - This all-mahogany construction produces a guitar that likes to be played hard, as the tonewood needs a little more encouragement than Spruce. Therefore, it responds well to strident strumming. The tone will be quite tempered and warm, with an emphasis across the lower mid-range.
  • However, the Mars model in the Classic Burst series (FRESB45) benefits from a wider, 45mm fingerstyle nut, as well as the darker, mellow tones associated with a Cedar and Mahogany tonewood pairing. This particular model is also equipped with a discreet undersaddle Fishman pickup system.
