Faith Guitars PJE Legacy Series

Focusing solely on Patrick James Eggle’s historic acoustic body shapes, our PJE Legacy Series guitars set a new bar for professional excellence. Featuring the Mars drop-shoulder dreadnought (PJE Kanuga); the Neptune baby-jumbo (PJE Saluda); and the Earth orchestra-model (PJE Linville), the Legacy model line-up is genuinely unique and can only be found on Faith Guitars.

New for 2022 and based upon the acclaimed PJE-designed Legacy Series, the new 20th Anniversary 'THE TWENTY' FG20 Faith models are built to celebrate 20 years since the inception of the Faith Guitars project in 2002. 'THE TWENTY’ models feature a torrefied Canadian Sitka Spruce top as used on all Faith PJE Legacy Series guitars, paired with the finest, booked-matched and premium-graded Indian Rosewood on the back and sides.

Each PJE Legacy THE TWENTY guitar showcases a host of exceptional adornments unique to these limited-edition commemorative models, with their tops decorated with an edging of stunning abalone shell and edges and backs bound with richly figured solid Koa surrounded by expertly inlaid abalone. The FG20’s celebratory pièce de resistance comes in the form of a uniquely designed and hand-inlaid Tree of Life inlay across the 11th, 12th and 13th frets. Each of the leaf sections is an individual piece of abalone, with the trunk section made of Mother of Pearl – designed and realised by Faith guitars artist, percussive fingerstyle guitarist and illustrator, Sean De Burca. The fine, Canadian Sitka Spruce or African Khaya Mahogany tops of FG1 and FG2 PJE Legacy Series guitars have been kiln-aged through a process of torrefaction or torrefication. In basic terms, the topwood is air dried before being roasted in a kiln with precise controls over atmospheric and oxygen levels to reduce its moisture content. Then as the wood cools, precise amounts of moisture are re-introduced to the wood.

The resulting timber is more stable – always good when used as a topwood - and aurally, it produces a rich, mellow tone with a mature voicing which would take perhaps 20 years of regular playing to achieve under normal circumstances. Treating Spruce this way has its benefits on the way it looks too with it taking on a rich golden colour that sees this series radiate a truly authentic, grown-up vibe.

Also exclusive to the PJE Legacy series is the FG5 Dark Roast Earth model which features a Solid Torrefied African Mahogany top with a deep coffee-coloured 'Dark Roast' colouration. This finish beautifully reflects its tonal palette with a luxuriously smooth low-end, pronounced, well-balanced mids, and a treble range with remarkable headroom.

Paired with African Khaya Mahogany (FG1) or figured, book-matched 2-piece Rosewood (FG2) on the back and sides, Faith PJE Legacy guitars have real power and depth of tone. They also feature solid high-figure, Flamed Maple or Macassan Ebony bindings, Figured Ebony fingerboards and bridges, and bone nuts, saddles and bridge pins. Also for the first time in our history – each guitar has a solid Figured Ebony pickguard.

Stage work is handled by Fishman’s latest ‘Flex-T-Blend’ pickup and preamp system. This excellent pickup system allows you to blend the crispness of a piezo undersaddle pickup with the more characterful tones of an internal condensor mic... and with near-flush fitted controls positioned discreetly on the upper bout side, there is nothing to take away from each guitar's beautiful contour.
