12 string acoustic guitars are something truly special. The sound produced is truly unique, with a natural ‘chorus’ effect, which adds great tonal texture.
Using 12 strings run in 6 narrow courses, you play a 12 string acoustic just like a regular 6 string, but pluck and fret 2 strings at a time. Typically, the strings of the lower four courses are tuned in octaves, with those of the upper two courses tuned in unison.
Used to great effect by numerous bands including The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Rush, Pink Floyd and Bon Jovi, 12 string guitars can add that extra layer of depth to a track, and can also be used to great effect when accompanying a soloist.
Within the Faith Guitars range of 12 strings you can see a choice of full bodied acoustic instruments, or small-bodied electro-acoustic models. As you may expect, the traditional Saturn (dreadnought) shape acoustic models will naturally produce a big, ringing tone; whereas the Venus models will not sound quite as big unplugged, but have the advantage of inbuilt electronics… and amplifying a 12 string – and even adding effects – is an awesome prospect, creating some wonderful results.
